For a romantic escape, visit some destinations for lovers

If you and your significant other are looking for the perfect getaway for your honeymoon or to celebrate a holiday or wedding anniversary, there’s no shortage of charming places throughout the United States. Where you go depends on the climate and what you’d like to see. To make your trip special and worry-free, plan ahead and be sure to rent a car in advance.

Savannah

Plan a romantic escape to Savannah, Ga., a city steeped in history. It’s worth the trip just to see Spanish moss draped from the area’s trees and admire the architecture of many of the older homes. If you have an interest in the supernatural, this city has its share of supposedly haunted graveyards, and you won’t have to look far to find a tour of southern ghostly sites that will make your partner want to hold on to you for protection. Tour the area to get a true sense of its antebellum history, and try the local cuisine at its restaurants and cafes.

Cape Cod

In the summer there’s no beating a romantic escape to Cape Cod, Mass.. This area has more than 40 miles of shoreline, and heading for a secluded beach to pop the question makes getting engaged here extra special. It’s near Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket but less expensive, so shopping for your sweetheart is more affordable. Cape Cod is a a must-see if you want to experience the charm of New England.

Make a wintertime romantic escape to Aspen, Colo., for the best skiing and killer views of the Sawatch Mountain Range. After hitting the slopes, cuddling up to your sweetheart and thawing out by a warm fire in the lodge is part of the fun. The area attracts a number of wealthy clientele and well-known celebrities, so when you’re not skiing, people-watching can provide hours of fun. With the high-end shops and boutiques, fancy restaurants and glitzy art galleries, you’ll never get bored in Aspen.

When love is in bloom, the right vacation spot makes the trip memorable. Don’t settle for just any place. Spending time in a charming, inviting city can draw you closer to your loved one.
